Psychology smile / smiles / smiling project

Student needs to find a peer-reviewed article on smiles.

Answer

A good place to start for this assignment is one of the Psychology Databases.

On the library homepage, look on the right and click on the blue box that says Research Databases. This gives you a list of all the databases the library has, separated by subject. On the right, under Specialized, Single Subject Databases, you will see a link for Social Sciences, which includes the Psychology databases. Click that link and look for Psychology & Behavioral Sciences Collection, a good resource for psychology research.

You will need to log in with your FLCC username and password to access the database.

Once you are logged in, enter smiles OR smiling into the first search box, including the OR. The OR tells the system you want to search for items that include either the word smiles or the word smiling.

Then change the ‘Select a Field’ drop-down to say subject. This will tell the system to display items that are specifically about the word smiles or smiling.

Once you hit search, you can narrow down your results using the options on the left. Check the peer-reviewed box to only see results that are in peer-reviewed journals.

Use the publication date option to limit your results to articles published within a certain time frame. Typically, this assignment asks for articles published within the past five years.
